They can leverage state of the art technology for the solution of global problems.” In its endeavor to identify and promote applications relevant to India in the 5G realm, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched ‘5G Hackathon’in association with the number of government, academia& industry stakeholders. 5G technology provides quantum leap over 4G in terms of speed, peak data rate, latency, spectrum efficiency, and connection density. The most distinct feature is applications in different economic verticals. 5G Hackathon will convert innovating ideas into products and solutions in different verticals and develop India specific Use cases around 5G.

Eligibility Criteria for Hackathon 5G 2020
- The event is open to all the players in the ecosystem who may participate as individuals, teams, companies, etc. and may work individually or as a team on ideas/concepts/solutions and present use cases (Indian Context) of the 5G network.
- Participants may be individuals, partnerships, JVs, registered companies, groups of individuals from India and abroad. Employees of the DOT, IMC and sponsoring companies are not eligible. Only compelling 5G use cases in the Indian context are acceptable. The product should be demonstrable by the third phase of the challenge.
Details About Award
- In this total Top 100 Submission to be awarded.
- The top 100 submissions will get ₹ 100,000 on presenting proof of concept or demonstrable product/solution.
- All shortlisted will also get complimentary space at India Mobile Congress 2020 – the biggest digital technology platform in Asia, which will be hosted in New Delhi from 15th to 17th October 2020.
Phase wise Award
Phase-I
1-15th April
- 100 best submissions or 20% of the total submissions (whichever is less) will be shortlisted.
- The shortlisted submissions will be awarded ₹ 100,000 upon proof of concept, a working model or a demonstrable product/solution.

Phase-II
16th July to 31st July
- Out of the previously shortlisted submissions, 30 top solutions/products will be selected.
- In the top 30, the prize money will be awarded based on the following ranking:1-10: INR 5 lakhs
11-20: INR 4 lakhs
21-20: INR 3 lakhs
